There was a great turn out for the CARTER show at Jack Hanley on Saturday. CARTER is a New York based artist that has an impressive exhibition record. His images consist of sloppily pasted layers of drawings and cut bits of hair. His work has been described as self-portraiture or compared to profiles of Mr. Potato Head.

After taking a long hard look I just thought this work was poorly crafted and too hip for its own good.It was a tribute to crappiness-which I do not doubt is intentional- but I'm just not interested in this aesthetic.
