"Short Cuts " @ The Luggage Store 4/29/06

The while a few artists have interpreted collage in the traditional sense, the overall theme for "Short Cuts" seemed to be one of displacement, putting things in a new context. They have taken the heart of collage and added a sculptural twist. One of the funniest pieces, mostly because I am SFAI-er is the paper mache garbage can- just like the ones they have at 800 Chestnut! Before I realised it was part of the show I threw something away in it. oops!

Despite all my bitterness that my collage class never got a show at the Luggage Store (no hard feelings to Carlos), it was a pretty fun show. One of the highlights was an illustrated sound piece by Leslie Samson-Tabakin a the bus trip taken on the 30 to the Luggage Store on Market Street and 6th. Unfortunately I don't have a picture, but good work!

I don't know who did these works, no name tags and bad journalism. I could probably find out if someone wanted to know...
