"Words Turn Into Stone" @Queens Nails Annex 5/5/06

This group show was an end of the year coming-out party(in the debutante's ball sense), for Bob Linder's spring 2006 Installation class at SFAI. There was live haircutting which I thought was brillant. It's been done before, but there's something so transformative and gratifying about seeing someone getting their haircut, or in Dustin's case, getting it all cut. (ps that mustache is fake!)

The other highlight for me was the spy-camera attached to the lapel of one of the artists(sorry no pic). The video was then being fed to a monitor in the back room, which was nice because that's where the bathroom was. It took forever for us to figure out where the camera was, which was totally engaging, like a treasure hunt. It was also totally frightening once I realized how small the camera was.

This was kind of a crazy installation. There was a running hand saw/turkey-cutter thingy vibrating above a bunch of bones. Next to the bones was a monitor with a mirror. Occassional something would pop up on the monitor. I never saw it, but thanks to my friend who took this pic, you can see somethings there. A head? It's reminiscent of a kinky horror movie. Cannibalism?
